Communications Office
The Communications Office provides communication services to support Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) programs and services. It assists school districts in Sacramento County with strategic communications and media outreach and serves as a key disseminator of information to educators and community leaders countywide. Primary responsibilities include conducting communications activities to improve public understanding of SCOE. These include composition of news articles and media releases/advisories; photography; creation and maintenance of website content; page layout and graphic design; data entry; copyediting; and answering media, staff, and public inquiries.
Communications coordinates internal communications activities to enhance employee relations and provides auxiliary communications technical support/consultation services to the SCOE Administration Department, the Sacramento County Board of Education and district administrators. Other ongoing responsibilities include special assignments from the County Superintendent of Schools and the Superintendent’s Cabinet.
The Communications Office works with County Office and school district administrators and staff, media representatives, parents, students, educators and members of the general public to raise awareness of County Office programs and services.
Communications has affiliations with the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA), the Schools Insurance Authority (SIA) County Wellness Committee, and other agencies and organizations. The Communications Office has been recognized with local and statewide awards for its work.
