The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.
Classified Employee of the Month
Mary Ann McRorie, Executive Assistant for the Workforce Development Department (WDD), was nominated by Principal Linda Mitchell for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Ms. McRorie provides comprehensive administrative support for WDD and is a role model for support staff. According to colleagues and supervisors, she is considered "the information clearinghouse regarding 'all things WDD.' She is well-loved and well-respected by everyone due to her professionalism, high competence, caring, and high expectations of herself and everyone else." Ms. McRorie has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education since February, 1975.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Jim Davis, a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) teacher, was nominated by Principal Linda Mitchell for his contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Mr. Davis teaches approximately 70 students enrolled in ROP's Retail Sales and Merchandising course located within the J.C. Penney Store on Florin Road in South Sacramento. Mr. Davis's students are high school students and adults. He instructs them in a wide range of skills needed to be successful employees in retail sales and customer service positions. He places them in job training sites and supervises their progress. Many businesses depend on him as a resource to provide future employees because his students have a much higher skill level compared to non-ROP students. Mr. Davis is highly regarded for his expertise in teaching strategies, curriculum development and development of business partnerships. He has served as a SCOE Mentor, a Teacher-In-Charge for the ROP Business Cluster and as a member of the WDD Technology Committee charged with developing the WDD Technology Plan. Mr. Davis has been employed by SCOE since August, 1975.
