The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.
Classified Employee of the Month
Julie Horst, a payroll analyst, was nominated as Employee of the Month by Payroll Services Manager Darrell Early for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Ms. Horst is responsible for managing SCOE employee benefits as well as lending assisting to colleagues when needed. Her supervisor says, "Since joining Payroll Services, Julie has provided excellent customer service in many ways, including but not limited to, meeting with each new SCOE employee individually to explain health benefits, helping current employees make changes to their benefit plans, and making sure that retiring employees understand how retirement will affect their health benefits. You could say Julie provides SCOE employees with their first and last impression of our organization." Ms. Horst is known for her customer service skills, making herself available to talk with employees who have inquiries or concerns about benefits, and "going the extra mile" to make sure they are satisfied. Among the employee comments received regarding Ms. Horst's work are: "Great attitude," "very helpful," "hard worker," and "wonderful personality." According to her supervisor, "Julie's positive attitude, never-ending patience, and perfect attendance combine to make her an exemplary employee." Ms. Horst has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education since May 2001.
