The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.
Classified Employee of the Month
Susan Crist, a program analyst, was nominated as Classified Employee of the Month by Prevention and Student Services Department Director Cheryl Raney and Project Specialist Cindy Kennedy for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Ms. Crist works in two SCOE programs that directly benefit area students and families: Foster Youth Services and the Family Support Project. The Foster Youth Services program enables children and youth in the foster care system to remain continuously enrolled in school regardless of placement. The Family Support Project provides classes for parents who need help building their parenting skills. Ms. Crist is responsible for entering students‚ foster care placement notices, immunization records and educational records into a comprehensive database that is accessible online. She assists schools from around the state in obtaining education information for foster youth students needing to enroll in school. She works closely with numerous agencies and school districts to obtain current education information. She is also responsible for registering parents for SCOE's Parent Project classes. She created and maintains a large database of class participants; tracks their attendance; and collects, enters and analyzes program data. She creates and updates all documents needed for the Family Support Project. Her colleagues say that Susan is an "outstanding employee. Susan always maintains a positive attitude and is a joy to work with." According to her supervisor, Ms. Crist "is committed to providing quality work, and is dedicated and dependable. She is a team player, often volunteering to assist with other projects and events. She welcomes challenges and provides 'service with a smile'." Ms. Crist has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education since May 2001.
