The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.

Ferrel Love, a SELPA Specialist, has been nominated by Judy Holsinger, Executive Director of SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area), for his contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Mr. Love acts as a liaison between Sacramento County school districts and other State of California SELPAs, preparing a variety of SELPA, district, federal, and state reports regarding student enrollment. He chairs monthly meetings of district MIS personnel and provides technical assistance regarding state requirements or changes to the state program. His supervisor reports, "One of Mr. Love's many strengths is his helpful, respectful approach to whatever task he is assigned. He is valued as a goodwill ambassador for SCOE." For many years, he has served as a mentor in SCOE's Young Men as Fathers program and is currently serving as a LINKS program mentor at Elinor Lincoln Hickey Junior-Senior High School. Mr. Love is regarded by colleagues as an integral part of the team in Administration. During a recent staff training, Carla Miller, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, noted that Mr. Love has "the most positive attitude in the office." Mr. Love has been employed by SCOE since January 1997.
Joyce Vossler, an Information Systems Technician, has been nominated by Assistant Superintendent Tim Taylor for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Ms. Vossler, who works for the Student Attendance and Program Reporting office, is responsible for monitoring student attendance in SCOE programs, which include the Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Special Education and Juvenile Court/Community Schools. She provides software support to more than 150 users on three different software programs and helps with the maintenance and operations of multiple servers. She has assisted with several successful software upgrades and implementations. Ms. Vossler's supervisor says, "Joyce is a dependable, hard-working employee who is committed to her job. She has an intricate working knowledge of each of the student systems she supports and maintains, which allows her to quickly solve problems and suggest better operational procedures. Joyce is always helpful and resourceful when asked to create custom data queries and reports. She also is very conscientious in her work and takes the time to ensure that the important function of processing attendance is done correctly. Joyce's work ethic and continued willingness to learn new things while staying abreast of the ever-changing world of technology and state reporting combine to make her an invaluable asset to the Sacramento County Office of Education." Ms. Vossler has been employed by SCOE since December 1995.
