Wade Adams, a Para-Educator, was nominated by Principal Linda Mitchell for his contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Mr. Adams works with students and staff of Carson Creek Jr.-Sr. High School, which is operated by SCOE within the Sacramento County Probation Department's Sacramento County Boys' Ranch. Mr. Adams contributes greatly to the success of the program, which is being recognized as an Honorable Mention entry in the California School Boards Association Golden Bell Awards competition. He has assisted in the building of this highly technical, results-oriented program, which was established as a joint venture partnership between the Sacramento County Probation Department and the Sacramento County Office of Education. In his role as Para-Educator, Mr. Adams works with 25-30 students every day. He assists student groups initially in learning about safety. Once students have received their shop safety certificate, they move on to mastering content knowledge and skills. His supervisor says, "Wade is skillful in working with the at-risk student population and is himself a skilled welder. Because of the technical environment of the shop, the program could not be delivered without the support of such a competent Para-Educator."
