The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.
Classified Employee of the Month
Raymond Fox, a Web Developer, was nominated by Internet and Media Services (IMS) Department Director Andrea Willis for his contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Working in SCOE's Internet and Media Services Department, Mr. Fox is responsible for designing and creating elements used in fostering educational programs. He develops Web-based and multimedia-based layouts, graphics, and animations for use in websites, multimedia projects, and DVDs. Mr. Fox also designs Web interfaces and technically complex HTML coding that enables SCOE to produce attractive and user-friendly projects. Among his other contributions are the designing and preparing of print-based materials using professional page layout and graphic design software tools. Mr. Fox operates video production equipment, such as video cameras and audio boards, in SCOE's video studio. In his work for SCOE, he has designed dozens of successful websites and multimedia projects, including the People of Sacramento Archives CD-ROM and the Where Ya Goin' Online Game Show, both of which received the coveted "Gold Addy Award." His exemplary graphics and coding skills brought life to the highly popular CalTeach (now Teach California) website, visited by nearly a million prospective teachers annually. Among his many other websites are the California Distance Learning Project, California Learning Resources Network, SCOE's Regional Occupational Program, USA Learns, and the new Lessons for Living Well site. According to Kris Marubayashi, director of the CalTeach project, "Raymond has been the lead graphics designer on our CalTeach (Teach CA) website since 2001. I've always been impressed with his ability to create attractive graphics and a user-friendly website that conveys the information that our site visitors are seeking, thereby enabling us to accomplish our project's goals." Mr. Fox has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since March 2005.
