The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. Classified Employee of the Month
Dina Serrano, Bilingual Early Head Start Educator in the Early Learning Department, was nominated by Director Natalie Woods Andrews for her contributions to the Early Head Start Home Visitation Program of the Sacramento County Office of Education. Dina Serrano serves families with infants and toddlers through weekly home visits. In addition, Ms. Serrano leads socialization events and field trips that provide children and their families with opportunities for interaction. She has a vast knowledge of Sacramento County resources, particularly those that serve the Spanish-speaking community. Ms. Serrano is a seasoned professional who presents herself as approachable and open to mentor her team members and other colleagues. She exemplifies SCOE's commitment to high standards and student success. Ms. Serrano has been a Sacramento County Office of Education Employee since 2002.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Pedro Marquez, Alternative Education Teacher at Center High School, was nominated by Director Chris Aland for his contributions to the CARE Program of the Sacramento County Office of Education. Pedro Marquez teaches Grade 9 English, Grade 9 Science, and Integrated Math for at-risk youth attending Center High School. He provides amazing support and opportunities for students to improve and succeed in their educational program. Mr. Marquez understands every student's story and adjusts his strategies accordingly, while still having high expectations for all. He has created a positive culture for the CARE program at Center High School. Mr. Marquez serves as a mentor teacher for SCOE and is a coach for the football program at Center High School. Mr. Marquez has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2007.
