The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.
Classified Employee of the Month
Christi Goates, Re-Entry Transition Specialist, was nominated for her contributions to the Placer Re-Entry Program by Coordinator Christi Fee. Ms. Goates provides supportive services to youth and adults involved with the criminal justice system. She sees the potential in her clients before they do and inspires them to achieve their goals. During COVID-19, our clients struggled with extreme circumstances, often under immense stress. Ms. Goates navigated these difficult times with them and understood the importance of being consistently there for them. She provided remote services by phone and ZOOM, to keep them engaged in the program as long as needed. The Placer Re-Entry Program would not be as successful as it is without the skill and dedication that Ms. Goates brings to her job every day. Christi Goates has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2019.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Joe Wilson, Career Technical Education Instructor/Nursery, Landscaping and Ground Maintenance, was nominated for his work in SCOE’s Re-Entry program by Director Chris Aland. Mr. Wilson helps re-entry clients at SCBC fulfill their community service requirements by leading projects in landscaping and bicycle repair. He is empathetic, patient, and personable with every client. Mr. Wilson didn’t miss a beat during COVID-19. He sought out projects to keep his clients on track and engaged. Mr. Wilson strives to create a positive culture for the SCBC Re-Entry program. Joe Wilson has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2007.
