Board Recognizes February 2022 Employees of the Month

February 2022 Classified Employee of the Month Gabe Esparza-De Jesus and February 2022 Certificated Employee of the Month Brendan Moore were recognized by the County Board of Education.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Gabe Esparza-De Jesus, Transition Specialist, was nominated for his contributions to the Senior Extension Program at Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High School. Gabriel (Gabe) Esparza-De Jesus has an exceptional ability for connecting with students by taking time to listen and develop a personal stake in their passions. He encourages students to continue their educational journey toward community college or entering the workforce. Gabe takes a leadership role in the internship and job development program, and works closely with SETA, Pathway's to Public Service, Building Supply Company, and SMUD, to ensure SCOE students have access to meaningful employment. Gabriel Esparza-De Jesus has been an employee of the Sacramento County Office of Education since 2018. 

Certificated Employee of the Month

Brendan Moore, Alternative Education Teacher, was nominated for his contributions at Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High School in the Senior Extension Program. Brendan engages his students with compassion and fosters their desire to learn. He encourages reading by offering an in-class library with books that reflect the diverse cultural heritage of his students. His classroom displays include items that stimulate interest in natural sciences and the arts. Brendan has enrolled in professional development courses to increase his skills in working with immigrant students enrolled in the program. Brendan Moore has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2015.
