The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.
Classified Employee of the Month
Mary Jacino, Para Educator, Foundations Academy was nominated by Principal Guy Holman for her for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Jacino works at SCOE’s Prairie Elementary School—West Campus in the Elk Grove Unified School District, which serves K-3 students who have moderate to severe disabilities. She’s always willing to help with whatever and wherever she is needed and is known for her “can-do” attitude. Jacino’s classroom teacher and staff depend on her to meet the educational and physical needs of students and to know what routines are expected. Jacino works cheerfully and efficiently, while displaying care and concern for her students. Mary Jacino has been a SCOE employee since 1995.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Jennifer Leeper, Teacher, Alternative Education was nominated by Principal Lisa Alcala for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Leeper is a teacher at Nathaniel S. Colley Sr. High School. She understands the importance of building relationships with students. Leeper understands that students have a lot on their minds and hearts, so she meets them where they are, emotionally, academically, and physically. Leeper takes the time to make students feel safe, so they can learn and prepare for their next steps. Leeper taught summer school every year since joining the Community School team. She has taken a lead in the development and evaluation of the English curriculum. Jennifer Leeper has been a SCOE employee since 2018.
