The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.
Classified Employee of the Month
Lanitra Odell, Program Analyst/Early Learning, was nominated jointly by Early Learning (EL) Executive Director Julie Montali, Ph.D., and Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) Executive Director Kristin Wright. Lanitra Odell is a dedicated member of the EL team with a focus on managing multiple complex budgets and contracts including workforce stipends. With her attention to detail, Lanitra quickly and accurately completes all tasks, often related to critical financial matters. She is an integral part of the office culture, helping to set a tone of connectivity, support, and positivity as leader of “The Funfluencers,” the EL team’s social and wellness committee. When the PEI Department faced a mini-staffing crisis due to unforeseen circumstances, Lanitra jumped right in to keep contracts and purchase orders moving along. Lanitra continues to go above and beyond in support of both the EL and PEI departments. Lanitra Odell has been an employee of the Sacramento County Office of Education since October 2014.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Jayme Massey, Alternative Education Teacher/Folsom Middle School, was nominated by Director Marc Nigel for her contributions to SCOE’s CARE Program. Ms. Massey teaches Math, English, and a curriculum support class for 20 students in eighth grade. She is phenomenal when it comes to building relationships with students. Ms. Massey makes sure she knows every student’s story and passion in life to help motivate them in the classroom. Her classroom walls are rich with student work and engaging bulletin boards. Ms. Massey takes the time to work with each family, helping them navigate the school process each day. She is engaged with Folsom Middle School staff and runs the "Club Live" program at the school. Additionally, Ms. Massey has provided professional development around curriculum support for the school staff. Jayme Masse has been a SCOE employee since August 2018.
