Board Recognizes April 2023 Employees of the Month

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Barbara McKnight, Accounting Technician with Accounts Payable (AP) was nominated by Financial Services Manager, Rupa Chowdhury, for her contributions to Business Services. During staffing shortages in her department, Ms. McKnight has picked up the work for the vacant desks in addition to her own duties. McKnight is always ready to help, and steps in voluntarily. Her attention to detail and attendance have been outstanding. As a direct result of McKnight's support, the Accounts Payable team has been able to meet the AP-related deadlines each month. Barbara McKnight has been a SCOE employee since January 2019.  

Certificated Employee of the Month

Jacob Mickelson-Steele, Infant Development Teacher was nominated by Area Principal Randy Olson for his contributions to SCOE's Infant Development Program (IDP). Mickelson-Steele is an amazing teacher in IDP. He is in his second year with SCOE and continues to exceed all expectations. Mickelson-Steele has taken the initiative to reach out to Sacramento area Family Resource Networks to support potential collaborative opportunities and work on SCOE's community outreach. His colleagues have all shared how wonderful he is to have on the team and only positive feedback has been received on the work and support that he provides to families. He goes above and beyond for his team and the families he serves. Jacob Mickelson-Steele has been a SCOE employee since December 2021.
