Board Recognizes February 2024 Employees of the Month

February 2024 Classified Employee of the Month Melvin Esteban and Certificated Employee of the Month Abby Williams were recognized by the County Board of Education. 

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Melvin Esteban, Technology Support/Trainer in the Computer, Network, and Telecommunication Support (CNTS) Department, was nominated by Executive Director Jerry Jones and Director Andrew Brooks for his exceptional service. Melvin is praised for his outstanding customer support, training, and cultivating relationships with customers and colleagues. Melvin is always eager to volunteer for assignments and to assist team members when needed. He proactively identifies and addresses technology issues for the departments that he supports and is crucial in improving the quality of service provided by the CNTS department. Melvin’s dedication and hard work have been instrumental in his success and the success of the department. Melvin Esteban has been a SCOE employee since May 2022.

Certificated Employee of the Month

Abby Williams, Program Specialist for the Foundations Program, was nominated by Area Principals Guy Holman and Jillian Friend.  Abby has the unique ability to be whatever the program needs on any given day. She works well with students, staff, families, and administrators. She exemplifies the department’s vision of always doing what is best for students first. Abby has an extremely positive attitude that shows in her work daily.  She is respected by everyone in the department. Abby takes the time to get to know all the students in the classrooms that she supports. Additionally, she builds a positive rapport with each of the staff members. Abby’s positive attitude and expertise in special education make her an invaluable employee. She is relied upon by administrators and teachers alike and is an overall outstanding employee and member of the SCOE team. Abby Williams has been a SCOE employee since August 2015.
