The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.
Classified Employee of the Month
Michael Shell, Transition Specialist with the Re-Entry Department was nominated by Brandee Brewer, Project Specialist, Reentry Program. Michael is a reliable and outstanding employee, who continuously brings innovative ideas and solutions to our department. Michael is the only Transition Specialist at the West Sacramento location and supervises a full caseload of clients, which includes both parole and probation participants. He thrives on working with individual clients, as well as facilitating group sessions, allowing him to connect to the people we serve, no matter what their situation may be. Michael is actively involved with our community partners and organizations, playing a key role in ensuring clients receive the services they need to be successful. Michael has a positive attitude and a can-do approach, taking pride in his work. SCOE is incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated employee on its team. Michael Shell has been a SCOE employee since 2015.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Brian Gibbons, Resource Specialist with the Special Education Department was nominated by Community Schools Principal Lisa Alcalá. Since joining the Special Education team as a Resource Specialist, Brian has been an exceptional employee. He creates an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions about their school, which can be really hard for young people. Brian is also incredibly supportive of his peers and is always willing to jump in and help. Additionally, Brian has helped refine protocols and processes for helping our students who receive Special Education services. His positive, solutions-based work approach is appreciated. Brian Gibbons has been a SCOE employee since 2019.
