The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.
Classified Employee of the Month
Teagan Hackbarth, Transition Specialist with Court and Community Schools, was nominated by Barbara Modlin, Principal at El Centro Jr./Sr. High. Teagan’s commitment to meeting the needs of our students makes a huge impact on their successful transitions when they leave us. Teagan genuinely cares about each student she interacts with, ensuring that their diverse needs are met. Her creative and innovative approach to problem-solving engages students and inspires them to envision their future possibilities. One of Teagan’s standout contributions is her role in helping organize our Annual Career Fair, an event that allows students to explore various career paths. Additionally, her leadership in the Budget Cents program through SAFE Credit Union empowers students with financial literacy skills and helps prepare them for independent living. Another important contribution is Teagan’s work connecting students with the Department of Rehabilitation so they have access to paid job training in areas such as barbering, truck driving, machine operations, or medical assisting when they are released. Teagan consistently demonstrates a remarkable work ethic and a heartfelt dedication to our students’ success. She makes a positive impact on the school community and is truly deserving of this recognition. Teagan Hackbarth has been a SCOE Employee since 2022.
Certificated Employee of the Month
Joe Linehan, Program Specialist of Assistive Technology with Special Education, was nominated by Michael Kast, Assistant Superintendent of Student Programs. His ability to work with classroom staff and ensure they are well-trained in using the equipment is what truly makes him stand out. His passion for improving the classroom experience through technology is contagious, and it allows our classrooms and staff to continue adapting along with the needs of our students. Recently, Joe took on the enormous task of implementing Smart Boards in every Special Education classroom. This required communication with outside vendors and other SCOE departments, as well as trainings for each classroom site to ensure all staff felt comfortable using the equipment. The feedback from staff who attended these trainings was overwhelmingly positive and many could not wait to start using this new resource with their students. Linehan’s patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to bettering the school experience for our students are what make him a vital part of our Special Education team. Joe Linehan has been a SCOE employee since 2016.
