Board Recognizes September 2025 Employees of the Month

September 2025 Classified Employee of the Month Essence Jeffery and Certificated Employee of the Month Lenee Johnson were recognized by the County Board of Education.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 780 regular and more than 815 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Essence Jeffery, Office Assistant, Sacramento County Office of Education's Reentry Program and the Sacramento Community Based Coalition, was nominated by Natalya Weltman, Project Specialist II for Reentry with SCBC. Essence Jeffery has been a light to the SCBC program who exudes professionalism and contributes meaningfully to the program’s success. Her contributions have strengthened SCBC’s culture, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. This year, she supported the creation of the SCBC program digital handbook by editing the layout and applying her creativity and skills gained through SCOE U, helping bring the vision to life. Essence’s dedication, creativity, and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable part of the team and truly deserving of this recognition. Essence Jeffery has been an employee with Sacramento County Office of Education since 2021.

Certificated Employee of the Month

Lenee Johnson, School Nurse, Leo A. Palmiter Jr./Sr. High School/Sacramento County Office of Education Infant Development Program/Special Education Department, was nominated by Principal Randy Olson. Lenee Johnson has been an integral part of the team and through in-home visits and a transdisciplinary coaching model, she ensures families of infants and toddlers receive high-quality health care, education, and compassionate support. She collaborates seamlessly with colleagues and community partners, often offering insights that strengthen services and responsiveness. Her co-launch of an infant massage class with the North Sacramento Family Resource Center not only promotes healthy development and parent-child bonding but also strengthens the Sacramento County Office of Education’s visibility and impact in the community. Lenee’s initiative, empathy, and professionalism make her an invaluable asset to both her team and the families she serves. Lenee Johnson has been an employee of the Sacramento County Office of Education since 2018.
