Truancy Reduction/School Attendance Review Board (SARB)

School districts use a variety of approaches to reduce truancy. The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) provides assistance to local district truancy reduction efforts, including School Attendance Review Boards (SARB) and referrals to Truancy Court.

SCOE facilitates a quarterly countywide attendance improvement/SARB meeting that includes members from all of the school districts in Sacramento County. This group acts on numerous issues relating to truancy reduction and the SARB process. Other members of this group include representatives from the Sacramento County Probation Department, the Public Defender's Office, and the District Attorney's Office.
