Prevention Education Materials
The Prevention & Early Intervention Department has produced a variety of prevention education materials, including curricula, and resource guides. Some materials are available on a cost-recovery basis, while others are available at no cost. Selected materials are described. Call the contacts listed for more information or to request a catalog.
Participants
Educators, parents/family members, community members and others interested in prevention education may participate. School districts and county offices of education from throughout the state may participate.
Publications and Materials
Tobacco-Free Middle School Lessons and Tobacco-Free High School Lessons
Cross-curricular tobacco-use prevention lessons. Designed to supplement the comprehensive tobacco-use prevention curriculum, each of the 17 lessons includes lesson plans, teacher resources, and student resources and worksheets. Publication may be requested by phone.
"I Decide" Teen Tobacco Cessation Program
This facilitator's guide provides the materials and guidance necessary to operate a school-based tobacco-use cessation program for middle school or high school students. Publication may be requested by phone.
Great Expectations!
Four-color magazine and teacher's guide with 7 correlated lessons. Focus is on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use during pregnancy/breastfeeding and the harmful effects of environmental smoke.
