Education Careers
A career in education can be rewarding, fulfilling, and stable, with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Working in education offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others and contribute to the development of the community.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) directly employs about 650 regular employees, plus more than 950 temporary/substitute staff in classified (support staff hired for their skills and experience), certificated (requiring a credential), and administrative positions. The process of recruitment and selection is handled through the SCOE Personnel Department. In addition to employing its own staff (SCOE job opportunities listed online), SCOE offers numerous workforce development programs and resources for earning a teaching credential, becoming an administrator, or becoming a family child care home provider or transitional kindergarten teacher. The goal is to prepare well-qualified staff to support education across the county. Learn more about SCOE.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
SCOE believes its efforts are enriched by the diversity of its staff and those they serve. Learn about SCOE’s Equity Imperative and the customized training offered to schools and districts by its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department.
