WHY: Final Round and Awards
Following a month-long round of trials, two teams from the San Juan Unified School District—Bella Vista High School and Mira Loma High School—have made it to the finals in the 2024 Gordon D. Schaber Moot Court Competition. The competition simulates an appellate-level proceeding in which students prepare and argue a case before a panel of three judges who evaluate the students on the quality and persuasiveness of their legal reasoning and presentation, as well as their unscripted responses to spontaneous questions from the panel of judges.
A winner will be announced after a deliberation session by the guest judges, followed by the presentation of awards. Both the final round and awards ceremony are open to the public.
