H.S. Teams Spend Months Preparing for Annual Academic Competition

WHEN: The Super Quiz begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The Awards Ceremony follows at 3:15 p.m.

WHERE: Folsom High School Gymnasium, 1655 Iron Point Rd, Folsom, CA 95630

WHO: Scholastic Competition featuring 11 local school district teams  

WHY: To prepare for the academic competition, students devoted months of study to this year’s theme—Our Changing Climate—which, today, holds profound significance. It provides students with the opportunity to explore a pressing global challenge, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration as they analyze the science, history, and impact of climate change. By engaging with this theme, students not only expand their academic horizons but also cultivate a sense of responsibility and empowerment to address complex issues that affect their future and the future of our planet. The Academic Decathlon program exemplifies the power of education to inspire innovation and action in the face of global challenges.

In addition to mastering the extensive academic content, students learn about teamwork, goal setting, planning, and leadership. The winning team will advance to the statewide California Academic Decathlon, which will be held in March. The winning California team moves on to the national competition.

About the Sacramento County Office of Education

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), plays a leadership role in the delivery of quality education to the students in Sacramento County, which is home to the California state capital comprising 1.4 million residents and seven cities.
