Students participate in last year’s Club Live Lip Sync Competition.

Middle schools from throughout Sacramento County will send their best dancers to perform Friday, March 24 in the 9th Annual Club Live Lip Sync Competition. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Crest Theater, 1013 K Street, in downtown Sacramento. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students. Tickets will be available at the door.

Coordinated by the Sacramento County Office of Education, the Countywide Club Live Lip Sync Competition features 70 students ranging in age from 12 to 14 years dancing and "singing" to the latest tunes. The event features winners of local middle school lip-sync competitions held by campus Club Live chapters.

Club Live, the middle school counterpart of the acclaimed Friday Night Live program for high school students, provides opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, build positive peer and adult relationships and become involved as active leaders and resources in their schools and communities. Club Live is operated by the Prevention and Student Services Department of the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Winners of the March 24 event will receive cash awards and gift certificates from Coca-Cola, local merchants, and community members.
