TEACH California Informs About Becoming a California Teacher

The TEACH California website provides important information about becoming a teacher in California.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) has joined other California educational organizations and universities as a TEACH California partner.

TEACH California is a program overseen by the California Department of Education (CDE), whose centerpiece is the website teachcalifornia.org. This unique, free interactive website provides people, young and old, regardless of their background, with important information they need to know to become a teacher in California.

With the understanding that California faces a great shortage of special education, mathematics, and science teachers, the site is designed to explain the teacher preparation process, assist prospective teachers in creating their plan to become credentialed teachers, and offer links to important resources.

While the emphasis is on recruiting special education, mathematics, and science teachers, the site also includes step-by-step guidance for all types of teacher preparation as well as free outreach materials, a comprehensive database of teacher preparation programs, and information on how to get financial aid. There is also material on paraeducators and other careers in education.

The site is an excellent resource for teacher recruitment programs, future teacher organizations, career advisors, and human resources professionals.

The California Department of Education supports TEACH California, whose original design and structure was created by CalTeach (California Center for Teaching Careers), a program administered by the California State University Chancellor's Office.
