The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is announcing that with the official certification of the June 3, 2008 primary election, members of the Sacramento County Board of Education have been elected.
Victoria L. Deane, current Board president, has been reelected to serve as Trustee, Area 4, representing the communities of Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, and a portion of Carmichael. This area also includes small portions of the Grant Joint Union High and Rio Linda Union School Districts, and a major portion of the San Juan Unified School district.
Brian Cooley has been reelected to serve as Trustee, Area 5, representing Alder Creek, Bridge House, Folsom, Gold River, Mather, Mills, Natoma, Nimbus, Rancho Cordova, Rancho Murieta, Rosemont, Sloughhouse, Walsh Station, and a portion of Vineyard. This area also includes small portions of the following school districts: Elk Grove Unified, Sacramento City Unified, and San Juan Unified, and all of Folsom Cordova Unified.
John C. Scribner will continue to represent Area 6, and the communities of Clarksburg, Clay, Collierville, Courtland, Elk Grove, Florin, Franklin, Galt, Herald, Hood, Isleton, Laguna Creek, Locke, Rio Vista, Ryde, Sheldon, Thornton, Walnut Grove, Wilton, and a small portion of Valley Hi. This trustee area also represents a major portion of the Elk Grove Unified School District and all of Arcohe Union, Galt Joint Union, Galt Joint Union High, and the River Delta Unified School District.
Harold Fong was reelected as Trustee, Area 7, representing the communities of Freeport, Fruitridge, Greenhaven, Meadowview, Oak Park, Parkway, Pocket, and portions of Airport, South Land Park, and Valley Hi. Area 7 includes a small portion of the Elk Grove Unified School District and a large portion of the Sacramento City Unified School District.
The terms expire in June 2012.
In a special election, Greg Geeting, was elected to the post of Trustee, Area 1, to fulfill the remaining term of long-time Board member Elinor Lincoln Hickey, who passed away in January. This term will expire in June 2010.
Area 1 represents the communities of College Greens, Curtis Park, downtown and midtown Sacramento, East Sacramento, Elder Creek, Hollywood Park, Land Park, Lemon Hill, McKinley Park, Perkins, River Park, Tahoe Park, and portions of Airport, Oak Park, and South Land Park. This area also includes a major portion of the Sacramento City Unified School District, as well as small portions of Elk Grove Unified and the North Sacramento School District.
