SCOE Co-Sponsors Summit on Kindergarten Transition

First-of-Its-Kind Event Focuses on Creating Connections for Children

SCOE News

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) and the First 5 Sacramento Commission are hosting a countywide Kindergarten Transition Summit to foster seamless transitions to kindergarten.

The summit is to be held Saturday, April 25, 2009, 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Sacramento Cal Expo.

For the past two years, SCOE has facilitated collaboration and communication among public and private preschool programs, family child care homes, and elementary schools. Through the Preschool Bridging Model, SCOE staff provides site development, instructional support, professional development, and kindergarten transition/school readiness support to private providers who offer child care/preschool in centers and family child care homes. The Preschool Bridging Model, funded by the First 5 Sacramento Commission, is designed to enhance the quality of child care for three to five-year-old children in every school district in Sacramento County. The Kindergarten Transition Summit expands upon these early efforts and provides a unique opportunity to strengthen connections for children.

Those interested in attending the Kindergarten Transition Summit are asked to download and submit the registration form for this free event. For questions regarding the Kindergarten Transition Summit, please call (916) 228-2650.
