Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon is announcing a new Assistant Superintendent to oversee the Court and Community Schools and the Career Technical Education programs for the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE).
Matthew D. Perry, Ed.D., previously served as the Director of High School Reform Initiatives for the Sacramento City Unified School District. Prior to that appointment, Perry was the founding principal of the Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School at SCUSD and was named a California Principal of the Year 2008 by the National Association of California School Principals.
Perry replaces Assistant Superintendent Tim Taylor, who was recently appointed to serve as the Butte County Superintendent of Schools.
"We are delighted to welcome Matt to our County Office team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in working with a diverse range of students," Superintendent Gordon said. "Our County Board of Education and I look forward to working with him to deliver top-quality service to the students, families, and staff of Sacramento County's local school districts."
Perry holds a B.S. degree in Zoology from UC Davis. He earned his M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Sacramento State, and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from UC Davis. He assumes his new SCOE role on July 1, 2012.
