In an effort to promote wellness and health awareness, the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) hosted a Health and Wellness Fair for employees at the David P. Meaney Education Center on April 10. This year's theme: "Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Wellness."
The fair was organized to help employees learn how to improve health in all aspects of their lives, showing what resources are available to assist in achieving a healthy lifestyle.
Learning opportunities were available with education information on nutrition, cancer screening and prevention, blood and organ donation, exercise, dental health, mental health, and much more. Participants also received information about eating healthy, routine exercise, managing stress, safety, and annual wellness exams. Students from Palmiter High School Culinary Arts program served healthy snacks they had prepared, explaining to attendees what they'd done to make the food healthier. Students from the ROP Horticulture program also handed out fresh organic produce and seedlings they had grown.
