The Sacramento County Board of Education provisionally appointed Thomaysa M. Glover as Trustee for Area 5 at its meeting on August 20. She fills the seat that was made vacant following the July 3 resignation of former Area 5 Trustee Penny Schwinn.
Glover, a resident of Gold River, is a former Trustee for the San Juan Unified School District who has served as a regional director for the California School Boards Association. She has a Masters in Governance from the California School Boards Association and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Hampton University, Hampton VA.
"The applicants for the Trustee Area 5 position included so many remarkable and inspiring community leaders. Their passion for education was evident and heartwarming and the decision was a difficult one," said Board President Jacquelyn Levy. "I am confident that Mrs. Glover possesses all the attributes to make a positive difference for the students and families of Sacramento County and look forward to her joining the Board."
This provisional appointment is effective immediately and shall continue until the next regularly scheduled Board election in June 2014, unless a petition calling for a special election (pursuant to Education Code § 5091) is filed in the office of the County Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the provisional appointment (by 9/19/13).
