Citing his proven leadership, passion for education, and administrative expertise the River Delta Unified School District Board of Trustees announced that Don Beno will be the district's new school superintendent starting July 1, 2013. Beno replaces retiring Superintendent Rick Hennes. The appointment announcement was made during the River Delta Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting on June 18.
Beno had previously served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the Woodland Joint Unified School District, in Yolo County, since 2011. Prior to that, he served in the same capacity for the Washington Unified School District from 2006 to 2011. Beno has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychobiology from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from St. Mary's College.
"During his career, Mr. Beno has proven himself to be a strong and thoughtful leader. He is known as a collaborative and caring administrator who can build consensus and who always puts the students first. We believe that Mr. Beno's budgetary and human resources expertise makes him undeniably qualified. We look forward to working with him very much," said Board President Seann Rooney.
"I am honored and humbled to become a part of the River Delta Unified School District in such a supportive community," Beno said. "It is a privilege to join an organization that places a high priority on academic achievement and teamwork. I look forward to working with staff, families, and community members and am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this new role."
