Students attending college during the 2014–15 academic year now have access to a new scholarship opportunity that may help make higher education more affordable.

The Middle Class Scholarship is a new program, beginning next year, that may provide students whose family income is less than $150,000 a scholarship to attend a University of California (UC) of California State University (CSU) campus.

Information about MCS and other programs is available during a series of free Cash for College workshops, sponsored by the Sacramento Cal-SOAP Consortium, a program of the California Student Aid Commission and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE).

Students attending these workshops can get help filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Dream Act applications. Applicants could also be eligible for free tickets to an upcoming Sacramento Kings game.
