On September 23, the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) welcomed nationally recognized author and educator, Dr. Robert Marzano, as a guest speaker. A leading researcher in education, Dr. Marzano is the author of The Art and Science of Teaching, and a host of other education books. He addressed school administrators and teachers who crowded into one of SCOE's large conference rooms.
During his presentation, Dr. Marzano spoke about numerous topics including establishing and communicating learning goals with students, tracking student progress, celebrating student success, and communicating high expectations to all students.
Dr. Marzano is co-founder and CEO of Marzano Research in Colorado. He is a speaker, trainer, and has written more than 30 books and 150 articles on topics such as instruction, assessment, writing and implementing standards, cognition, effective leadership, and school intervention. He received a bachelor's degree from Iona College in New York, a master's degree from Seattle University, and a doctorate from the University of Washington.
