Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon officially announced the names of four outstanding classified school employees today who have been selected to represent Sacramento County in the state Classified School Employees of the Year competition.
“Classified employees are an integral part of any school team. They perform essential work that keeps our schools safe, clean, and efficient,” said Superintendent Gordon. “Most importantly, they contribute greatly to student success every day.”
District and County Office of Education staff competed to be Sacramento County Classified School Employees of the Year in four categories. A selection committee, made up of representatives from the participating districts, chose one employee from each category to represent Sacramento County at the state level. The selection process involved paper screening and formal interviews.
Each employee recognized for this prestigious honor is selected for his/her exemplary performance of responsibilities that contribute significantly to the success of district programs, services, and special projects. The overall objective of the California Department of Education (CDE) Classified School Employees of the Year program is to acknowledge and promote the efforts of the state’s outstanding classified school employees.
A CDE committee will now evaluate nominations statewide, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will announce the recipients of the state awards in April. State winners will be honored at a luncheon in Sacramento during Classified School Employee Week, celebrated May 15–21, 2016.
