Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) schools are in the process of reviewing new English language arts (ELA) curriculum that will be rolled out in the 2016–17 school year. New textbooks will be more closely aligned with California's Common Core State Standards.
Over the past several months, SCOE's ELA Adoption Committee has reviewed many different programs and has narrowed the choices down to two 6th through 12th Grade Core ELA Programs, and two ELA Intervention Programs. Programs are currently being piloted at the following SCOE program sites: El Centro Jr./Sr. High School, Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High School, Gerber Road Community School, and Leo A. Palmiter Jr./Sr. High School.
SCOE follows a thorough textbook adoption process adhering to California state statutes. The SCOE ELA Adoption Committee includes administrators, curriculum specialists, and instructors.
The textbooks and accompanying materials for all of these programs are located in the office of each school site and will be available for review until April 27, 2016. To review the materials or provide input on the programs, please email Chris Aland, Court and Community Schools Director
