On June 24, a celebration inside the Sheldon High School auditorium was held to honor the seventh graduating class of the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Leadership Institute.
During the ceremony, 70 participants received a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, allowing them to apply for site administrator, vice-principal, and other district administration positions. The credentials are authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The Leadership Institute, part of the SCOE School of Education, is focused on preparing aspiring administrators to fill the expected need for highly qualified and trained administrators. It also helps train newly appointed administrators (having one or two years of experience), continuing administrators (having three or more years of experience), and established district administrators.
The School of Education includes two divisions: Teaching and Leading. The “Teaching” division includes the Teacher Intern Program and the Teacher Induction Program (formerly BTSA). The “Leading” division includes the Leadership Institute, which was honored in 2013 with a prestigious Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association.
