The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Personnel Office will host a Substitute Employee Recruitment Day on Monday, July 17, 2017 for potential candidates interested in substitute employment opportunities.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m. at SCOE's David P. Meaney Education Center, located at 10474 Mather Boulevard.

Types of Substitutes Needed
Substitute teachers for alternative education programs for at-risk youth in:
- Community schools
- Court school (youth detention facility)
Substitute teachers and para-educators for special education programs in:
- Classrooms for students with emotional disabilities
- Classrooms for students with severe disabilities
Para-educators work under the supervision of a certificated or licensed staff member to support and assist in providing instructional and other direct services to children, youth, and families.
Requirements
Substitute teacher candidates must have a bachelor's degree and have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
Para-educator candidates must have a high school diploma and pass a No Child Left Behind (NCLB) multiple-choice test administered by SCOE.

Prospective candidates should bring two copies of their résumé and dress appropriately for on-site testing and/or interviews. Representatives from various SCOE programs will be available to discuss working in alternative education and special education settings.
Walk-ins are welcome, but candidates are encouraged to create an online account and submit an application prior to the event using the EDJOIN application system.
