For men and women on parole or probation, the transition back to their families and communities can be challenging. Nearly 60 Yolo Day Reporting Center (DRC) clients received recognition yesterday for completing core requirements of the program that will help them succeed as they re-enter their communities.
The Yolo DRC Adult Re-Entry Program is a collaborative effort between the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department, the Yolo County Probation Department, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The program is a response to AB 109 realignment legislation addressing public safety.
“I hope you all realize that what you have done in this program is remarkable. Ours is a nation of second chances, and you all have proven yourselves more than worthy of that second chance,” Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon told the recipients.
The Yolo DRC, which operates programs in West Sacramento and Woodland, opened in February 2013. It provides educational, vocational, and life skills programs. Clients also have access to drug and alcohol treatment, parenting classes, and anger-management training. All services are provided at no cost to clients. A wide variety of academic, case management, employment, life skills, and treatment services are offered by the program. Since 2013, more than 450 clients have graduated from the Yolo DRC.
