The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) will host a summit on June 12 for district and school teams to discuss and learn more about effective family engagement. The event will focus on using family engagement as a way to increase student achievement, improve schools, and ensure equitable access to opportunities. The event is a collaboration between the SCOE Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Network and Seeds of Partnership, a program of the California Department of Education, Special Education Division.
Featured presenter Michele Brooks, Principal Consultant for Transformative Solutions in Education, will share her knowledge and expertise. Her presentation is titled, “Leveraging Engagement for Equity and Achievement.”
At the summit, participants will:
- Explore research that grounds the work of family engagement
- Examine the intersections of equity and engagement as ways for improving student outcomes and school improvement
- Assess family engagement efforts and develop ways to enhance school plans

Who Should Attend
District/School leadership teams of up to six members are encouraged to register. Those who may be interested include: superintendents, assistant superintendents, board members, principals, LCAP directors, Title I directors, special education directors, counselors, staff from family and community engagement departments, and parent leaders.
