At its meeting last night, the Sacramento County Board of Education presented Justice Ronald B. Robie, of the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, with the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) 2019 Civic Learning Champion Award. The award celebrates those who contribute to civic education in Sacramento County.
Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon called Justice Robie the perfect individual to receive the award. “He is truly passionate about student success in academic and civic life, and is a great role model for other community leaders to emulate,” he said.
Robie is a long-time and passionate supporter of civic learning for young people. For many years, he has been involved with the Gordon D. Schaber Moot Court Competition, dedicating his personal time to ensuring students understand government and civic institutions.
The justice has served on the California Court of Appeal since 2002. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also earned a master’s degree in journalism. He earned his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
