Excellent weather and scores of enthusiastic golfers made for a winning combination at the 17th annual Project SAVE golf tournament fundraiser. The 2019 tournament was held yesterday at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove. Nearly 90 golfers participated.
Project SAVE (Safe Alternatives and Violence Education) is a Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) program dedicated to aiding young, first-time offenders. The model community project has proven to prevent and reduce youth violence and bullying behaviors. The annual golf tournament is its main source of funding.
This year’s fundraiser was a success thanks to the support of the Project SAVE Golf Tournament Steering Committee, SCOE’s Prevention and Early Intervention Department, the Project SAVE Advisory Committee, and many volunteers.

About Project SAVE
Project SAVE is a program for adolescents, ages 10 to 17, who have been involved in violence or weapons possession on or near a school campus. The program offers alternatives for the less sophisticated offender who acts without thinking or in response to peer pressure, and who is not yet intimately involved in the juvenile justice system. Those eligible to participate in Project SAVE are Sacramento County students and their parents/guardians.
Project SAVE partners include Sacramento County Probation Department, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento City Police Department, Superior and Municipal Courts, community members, and all thirteen school districts in Sacramento County.
