The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is announcing the launch of an educational video catalog, designed to provide students, families, and school districts with supplemental enrichment materials as schools remain closed during COVID-19.
“We are committed to helping our parents and our young people while they’re at home, making sure students have positive activities and parents have informational materials that help them better work with their children,” said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools.
SCOE is partnering with the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium (SECC) to support at-home learning while schools are closed. SCOE curriculum experts are developing video lessons, which will be added to the catalog regularly.
Supplemental materials are valuable because they give parents an opportunity to approach education topics in new ways, possibly different than what students might already have been learning in the classroom. They also give parents the opportunity to address topics that might not have been presented in the classroom. “We hope some of these activities will fill in the gaps and put parents in a position to help their children stay in touch with education,” Superintendent Gordon said.
