Fans and families cheered as the 2021 Sacramento County Classified School Employees of the Year and the Sacramento County Teachers of the Year 2022 were recognized during halftime at Saturday’s soccer game between the Sacramento Republic FC and the San Diego Loyals at Heart Health Park, Cal Expo.

The team paid tribute to both groups of school employees at “Honor Our Educators Night.” Sacramento County Board of Education President Karina Talamantes joined the honorees as they were introduced to the cheering crowd and presented with awards.

“It’s so exciting to be on the field, honoring these school employees,” said President Talamantes. “They are truly deserving of this recognition, and we appreciate the Sac Republic for hosting a special event just for educators.”

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) coordinates the Sacramento County Teachers of the Year program, as well as the Sacramento County Classified School Employees of the Year program, to recognize the achievements of local educators and support staff because of their exemplary performance and contributions to education.
