David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools, is announcing two Cabinet-level appointments to the leadership team at the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE).
Jackie White is the new Assistant Superintendent of Court/Community Schools and Career Technical Education. She previously served as SCOE’s Director of College and Career Readiness Initiatives. Prior to that, White served as the Executive Director of Student Engagement at the Twin Rivers Unified School District. At Twin Rivers, she also served as Director of Career Technical Education, Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Principal of Adult Education, and K–12 Principal. White replaces Matt Perry, Ed.D., who recently retired.
Shanine Coats has been selected as a Director of Strategic Projects. She previously worked at the California Department of Education (CDE), where she served as the Director of Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division. Prior to that, Coats served as a Federal Policy Liaison, providing statewide guidance and support on federal programs under the Every Student Succeeds Act. She was also an Education Administrator at CDE, supporting innovation and student achievement in the areas of statewide student assessment, district interventions, and state and federal accountability.
“Jackie and Shanine are outstanding additions to our SCOE team. They are extremely talented and collaborative professionals who are recognized as leaders in education,” said Superintendent Gordon. “They fit perfectly with what we hope to accomplish in Sacramento County.”
