Xanthi Soriano has joined the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) as Executive Director of Communications.
“With her experience in education and the business world, her commitment to learning, and deep knowledge of our region, Xanthi is an ideal person to lead communications for the Sacramento County Office of Education,” said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools.
The new SCOE director had served as the Director of Communications and Public Information Officer at the Elk Grove Unified School District since 2015 and currently teaches civics to adult English learners in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. She previously taught English and world languages at Valley High School (Elk Grove USD) from 2010–2014, where she was also a dance director.
Fluent in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, SCOE’s new director was selected as a U.S. Department of State Fulbright Specialist in communications and education for 2021–2024. She previously served in the private sector as a corporate communications manager for Siemens Mobility, and as a business research analyst and marketing supervisor at McDonald’s Corporation.
Xanthi Soriano earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine, a teaching credential from San Francisco State University, a master’s degree in public administration from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, and an administrative services credential from Sacramento State University.
