The California Dyslexia Initiative is hosting a professional learning network (PLN) to give educators the opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge, and learn from leading experts. The event is on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.).
Registration is free for the online event, which is being presented by the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) in partnership with the California Department of Education (CDE), the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE), and the California State Board of Education (SBE).
Event Details
Tim Odegard, Ph.D., Murfree Chair of Excellence and Professor of Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University will kick off the event with his keynote, “Understanding Dyslexia: A Brain-Based Learning Difference.”
Following the keynote, breakout sessions will be led by DeJunne' Clark Jackson, M.Ed., Pamela Kastner, Ed.D., Linda Cavazos, Ph.D., and Carrie Thomas Beck, Ph.D.
Register now and get access to the fall 2023 PLN (hosted on October 4, 2023), which featured Jason Yeatman, Ph.D., Associate Professor from the Stanford Graduate School of Education. In his keynote, Dr. Yeatman discussed how the brain learns to read, why some children struggle, and the impact of evidence-based intervention.
