Families, teachers, and support staff applauded as seven young adult students received certificates of completion from the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Foundations Academy in a ceremony held May 15. The graduates were from various sites throughout Sacramento County, including:
- Galt High School
- Independent Study
- Jessie Baker Young Adult Class
- Monterey Trail High School
During the ceremony, which was held at the SCOE Conference Center, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon addressed the students and their families. “Your unwavering support and remarkable resilience have helped every student navigate life's challenges,” he said. “With every step forward, you have celebrated their achievements and victories.”
The SCOE Special Education Department operates the Foundations Academy, serving ages 3–22. The program provides education services to students who require extensive visual, mobility, and speech/language support. Many of the students who complete the program start in SCOE’s Infant Development Program and continue in the Foundations Academy through young adulthood.
