Five days of intense courtroom competition culminated in an awards ceremony held in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria on Monday evening. After careful deliberations by esteemed judges, Sacramento Country Day School was announced as the winner of the 2025 Gordon D. Schaber Sacramento County Mock Trial Competition.
“Throughout your active team involvement in Mock Trial you’ve been exchanging ideas, setting goals, and examining issues—all while interacting with positive role models from our community,” said Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon. “Through this process, you have gained a practical understanding of legal rights and the importance of advocacy.”
More than 500 students from 24 schools in Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, and Yuba counties competed this year. The champions from Sacramento County advance to the California Mock Trial Competition (being held March 14–16 in Los Angeles), along with the winning teams from the three other counties.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), which coordinates the annual competition, announced the winners following the final and consolation rounds.

About the County Competition
Mock Trial simulates a trial-level proceeding in which students portray the roles of pre-trial counsel, prosecuting and defense attorneys, witnesses, court clerks, bailiffs, and jurors before a single presiding judge and two scoring judges. Volunteers from local law firms and other legal organizations served as scoring and presiding judges for the five-day competition.
