Sessions Help Leadership Teams Support Improved Literacy Outcomes

Seated attendees talking

The Sacramento County READS Community of Practice sessions are dynamic opportunities for leadership teams to collaborate, learn, and grow.

The Sacramento County READS literacy initiative is a Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) effort focused on developing and implementing collaborative systems of teaching and learning. Through innovative programs, community partnerships, family engagement, and supportive services, the program is dedicated to improving reading and literacy outcomes for all learners.

As part of the initiative, SCOE is leading a Community of Practice for local education agency (LEA) leadership teams—a dynamic opportunity to collaborate, learn, and grow. Sessions feature nationally recognized literacy experts who guide participants in examining instructional systems and strategies to ensure all students receive the support they need to thrive. The sessions align with SCOE’s goal for the diverse learners in Sacramento County to meet reading and literacy milestones and become proficient readers.

Feedback about the sessions offered through the Community of Practice (which launched in 2023) has been very positive. One attendee commented that they received “actionable strategies and ideas to implement immediately.” Another came away with “an entire page of best practices for providing reading interventions for students, as well as how to manage, actively engage, and provide multiple response opportunities for students.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with colleagues, deepen practices, and strengthen literacy outcomes!
