The Science of Reading

NAVIGATION

The science of reading is a vast, interdisciplinary body of scientifically-based research about reading and issues related to reading and writing. Research has been conducted around the world for the last five decades, derived from thousands of studies that have been conducted in multiple languages.

The science of reading has culminated in a preponderance of evidence that informs how proficient reading and writing develop; why some people have difficulty; and the most effective way to assess and teach—and, therefore, improve—student outcomes through prevention and intervention.
